It’s too close to Christmas for any crazy sewing projects, so I’m sharing a really simple one with you today. I recently made the cutest fabric advent calendar with the classic Kelly approach of buying way too much fabric because I couldn’t be bothered doing the maths on the measurements.
I had to make something Christmassy with all the leftover fabric and since my kids don’t have Santa hats, I thought they would be the perfect project. I started once they were in bed and had two cute-as-can-be hats in no time at all.
All it took was a simple template (Method 1 from this Wiki How link) and scraps of green felt, along with cute contrasting fabric which was also leftover from my advent calendar. I was going to add an old-school pom pom but I didn’t have festive-coloured wool, so I just attached some gold baubles with craft glue.
They look so cute and the kids were delighted to wake up to fun Santa hats. This really is my kinda project – super simple, made with leftover craft supplies, done and dusted in one evening. It’s actually beginning to look a bit like Christmas in our house now!
