This quote is on the wall at my gym and sums up exactly where I’m at right now. In less than four weeks I’ll be doing the Auckland Half Marathon, which is 21.1 freaky deaky kilometres. Despite hoping to miraculously turn into a lean, mean Kenyan machine, I am still as slow as a wet week when I’m out there pounding the pavements. Oh well, progress is progress and at least I can do longer distances without wanting to die!
To be honest, I just can’t wait for the damn thing to be over. It’ll be nice to drive over the Harbour Bridge without feeling slightly sick thinking about having to run over it. You know, I’ve jumped off that bridge before, with a bungee attached, and it didn’t make me half as nervous as the idea of doing something pretty simple… one foot in front of the other, just gotta keep moving (and breathing!) … wish me luck!
