How this stay-at-home mum stays sane and has fun one day at a time.

Less hare, more tortoise

Do it slowly

I went op shopping with two great gal pals on Saturday. Like always, I mostly bought things for the kids. Henry got a soft toy shark he thinks is a whale and a book called ‘Duck’s Stuck!’ Annie got a royal blue peacoat which is just about the cutest thing I’ve seen, ever. Then I saw this mug and knew immediately that I must make my morning coffee in it every day as a not-so-subtle reminder to chill the heck out.

Lately I’ve been stretched in all sorts of directions trying to find a balance between home, exercise, blogging, work and finding more work. When I’m busy, I’m at my happiest but lately I’ve realised the kids need me to slow down. They are happiest when I give up on achieving anything other than rolling around on the floor with them or taking them on piggy-back rides down the hall. To me, it’s just like having a ‘real’ job. Often what you really want to achieve is not ‘in line’ with what makes your boss happy and you have to compromise. My kids are just like two really cute, super demanding bosses.

So I’m adding ‘Do It Slowly’ to my list of quotes to live by. Here’s another one: The best thing you can spend on your children is time! Amen to that.

Love that mug, and you are so right about needing to slow down – I am terrible at this, the poor kids end up getting yelled at because I’ve loaded too much onto my plate and am a frazzled stressed out mess! Trying to take it slower and be present with them in the moments that matter xoxo
